Berlin does not have one fetish scene. It has several, and they overlap only in places.

Most first-time visitors find the same three names and miss the fact that each room speaks its own language. This guide sorts the scene: dates, dress codes, conduct. Without the romance.

Folsom Europe 2026

10–13 September 2026, Berlin-Schöneberg

Europe's largest leather and fetish gathering. Running since 2003, modelled on the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco.

Street fair (Fuggerstraße / Welserstraße):

• Friday 11 September — 18:00 to 21:00

• Saturday 12 September — 12:00 to 21:00

Free entry, donation-based. Over 20,000 visitors expected from around the world. Three stages, stalls from international leather and rubber outfitters, boat tours, bus tours, Puppy Walk.

Official parties 2026: ADAM (Thursday), TESTOSTERONE and BEAR DANCE (Friday), PiG and ANIMALZ (Saturday, after the fair), BI-PLUS CONSEXUAL, and RECON BERLIN as the closing event.

An honest note: Folsom has always been, and remains, predominantly a gay men's leather event. Women and mixed couples are welcome at the street fair, but many of the official parties are not open to them — door policy and dress code are enforced without exception. If you come from a femdom or BDSM background, the street fair offers gear, craftsmanship and community. It is not a place for sessions.

Practical: Schöneberg hotels sell out by early summer. If you want the full week, arrive Wednesday.

The Clubs

KitKatClub

Köpenicker Straße 76, Mitte. Open since 1994. The most internationally known address in the city — and for that reason the most touristed. Several floors, a pool, sex-positive, mixed crowd. Saturdays: CarneBall Bizarre.

Dress code is enforced at the door: latex, leather, PVC, vinyl, uniform, elaborate fantasy. Street clothes are turned away. Photography is strictly forbidden. Doors from around 21:00–22:00; the queue grows later.

Insomnia

Tempelhof. Older, quieter, often wealthier crowd. Less techno chaos, more classic swingers' club with a fetish frame. Dress code: sexy — fetish — elegant evening wear. Regular themed nights and workshops. Arrive from 22:00.

Often easier for newcomers because it is curated. Curated does not mean gentle.

Lab.oratory

Am Wriezener Bahnhof, Friedrichshain, in the Berghain building. The hardest room in the city. Predominantly men, mixed on selected nights — check the website. The calendar runs by clothing fetish: rubber, leather, sportswear, workwear, suit and tie. No phones, no cameras.

Dress code: what works

Yes: latex, leather, PVC, vinyl, uniform, harness, corset, boots, considered fantasy outfits, total black worn with presence.

No: jeans, sneakers, T-shirts, shirts, street clothes of any kind. "Creatively combined" does not count.

The dress code is not gatekeeping for its own sake. It is the reason these rooms work: it filters out spectators. Anyone who doesn't change has missed the basic rule, and the door reads them exactly that way.

Most clubs have changing facilities on site. The cloakroom costs money — bring cash.

Etiquette

Consent. Always ask before touching, approaching or watching. A no is complete. It needs no justification.

No photos. No exceptions. Phones stay away or get taped. This protects everyone in the room, including you.

Don't stare. These rooms are for participants, not for an audience. Watching is fine where it is explicitly part of the format. Staring never is.

Stay sober enough. Anyone who can't communicate clearly can't consent. Staff and experienced guests spot it immediately.

Cash. Many doors and bars don't take cards.

Club or session?

Both are fetish spaces. They do different things.

A club is social and public. You watch, you are watched, you meet people, you see equipment and practices for the first time. What actually happens is open-ended and depends on who you meet.

A private session is structured. A conversation beforehand, clearly defined limits, an experienced counterpart, a frame that is set before the first minute begins. Nothing is left to chance or to group dynamics.

For many people the club is where curiosity lives — and the session is where it becomes experience. No prior experience is required.

Can a beginner go to a Berlin fetish club? Yes. What matters is not experience but preparation: the right dress code and respect for the rules of the room.

Can women attend Folsom? The street fair is open to everyone. Most official evening events are aimed at gay men.

What does entry cost? Roughly €15–30 depending on club and night. The Folsom street fair is free; donations go to charitable projects.

Do I need to bring someone? No. Many people come alone. Some clubs manage the ratio of singles to couples at the door.
